Five hundred is the Saxon's signature Restaurant, based on the intriguing concept of food, wine and art.
The chefs interact with guests and serve a unique gallery of artistic cuisine and wine pairings. The menus reflect the chefs' passion and inspired ideas, showcasing the freshest ingredients, simplicity and superior flavour. Five hundred derives its name from the original Suite 500, which until now was the Presidential Suite of the owner Douw Steyn, one of South Africa's leading captains of industry. The concept restaurant, with its private entrance, welcoming reception area and intimate private Ruinart Room, comes to life with the central focal point being the open Chefs' kitchen. The décor is dramatic in its simplicity, with the dark backdrop counterpointed by vibrant orange accents.Overlooking the Saxon Terrace and the evening city skyline, five hundred reflects the shimmering evening light. As the sounds and sights of culinary artistry fill the space, the chef is an artist of all the senses and his work a masterpiece of taste, touch, sight, sizzle and aroma.
